For a
knife or razor to perform its function correctly, it is basic that they are
sharp. Sharpening a knife is a matter of practice. They say that some types of
steel are easier to sharpen than others, there are different types of
sharpeners more or less simple, but once you find your ideal items, sharpening
your knife or razor will be a simple task with double
sided sharpening stone.
The first
reason is very simple to sharpen your folding
fruit knife, it is necessary to have the right tool for the right job.
A blunt knife is like having a hammer without a mallet. It does not do its job
properly and is useless. The second reason is for safety. A blunt knife is much
more dangerous than using a sharp one and with proper maintenance. This
involves the use of a force greater than necessary and is the cause of a
possible accident.
They are
generally used by the most expert people and theoretically provide a higher
quality of sharpening. They have different degrees of abrasion depending on the
grain that makes up the stone. The thicker grain will be used to constitute the
cutting edge and the finer grain will be used to conform the most delicate
adjustments of our cutting edge.
The first
thing we have to do is wet the surface of the stone with a little water or oil,
wet the stone sharpening. Then, choosing the angle that best suits us, we slide
the blade along the whole stone with a constant pressure. Do the same with the
other side of the sheet, making the same passes, and constantly maintaining the
same angle and pressure. In this way the edge will be uniform on both sides.
